[[CITY OF DREAMS  (Producer)]] Michael Olson, professionally known as CITY OF DREAMS, is a Los Angeles-based music producer and engineer originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota. His sound draws from the dark, emotional textures of modern R&B and house, grounded in the rhythm-forward legacy of the Minneapolis sound.

City began producing under the name “Division 1,” collaborating early with artists like Rocky Diamonds and Kid Ink. In 2014, he performed at Toronto’s NXNE Festival as part of Team USA in the International Beat Battle, taking first place in a competition judged by S1, Guru, and Vybez Kartel. He later worked closely with Cash Money’s Caskey, producing BS2IOTW and the Wish You Were Here EP, and joined him on the 31-city No Apologies Tour as live sound engineer.

After relocating to Los Angeles, City expanded his creative work across music, fashion, and film—producing original compositions for Galore Magazine, scoring content featured during New York Fashion Week, and landing syncs across television and film. Notable placements include:

City received part of his foundational training at Masters Recording Institute, where he studied under the late Grammy-winning engineer Tom Tucker Sr. (Prince, Motown, Paisley Park)—a key influence on his approach to high-fidelity sound and emotional clarity in production.
